The House of Representatives have voted against the proposed life pension for the Senate president, speaker of the house of representatives and their deputies in a bid to amend the 1999 constitution.
193 members voted against the motion while three did not vote and 163 voted in support.
The house also voted against the provision of special seats for women and the Value Added Tax included in the exclusive legislative list.
The rejection which took place on Tuesday had the votes of 208 members against special seats for women while 209 voted against the VAT Exclusive List.
“A Bill for an Act to Alter Part I of the Second Schedule to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to include Value Added Tax on the Exclusive Legislative List; and for Related Matters," read the VAT bill.
