Reps Seek FG's Intervention As Flood Destroys Over 200 House

The House of Representatives has appealed to the federal government to support victims of flood in Darazo community of Bauchi State.

The reps noted the devastation caused by the flood, destroying over 200 houses.

They further appealed to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to support the victims while urging other relevant agencies to step in.

The appeal came on Wednesday during plenary by the memeber representing Darazo/Ganjuwa federal constituency, Mansur Manu Soro.

Soro said apart from houses destroyed, the flood had also destroyed farmlands and other sources of livelihoods in the community.

He added that thousands have been displaced by the flood and are calling the government for support.

Following a voice vote put by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Ahmed Idris Wase, the house passed the motion to seek for support.

The house while calling on the Bauchi state government's support noted the need for collaboration with NEMA and NEDC to resettle the victims.
