Residents Call On Osun Government Over Road Rehabilitation

Once again, the state of the bad roads in Osogbo, the Osun State capital has been revisited.

This is as the state government and relevant government agencies have been urged to do the needful to prevent further disrepair to the road and prevent accidents and unnecessary loss of lives.

A concerned resident and proprietor of Affairs TV, Sola Isola who made this call posited that rehabilitation of these portion of roads has become expedient because it is the first visible sign of government dividend to the people.

He also added that the people deserved better from the state government notwithstanding the backlash that always greeted criticism of the state government.

Taking his time to comment on the state of roads, he asked the relevant stakeholders and government to immediately commence repair of the bad portions of the road in order to make life motoring easier for most residents.

"Okefia roundabout has outlived its purpose and should be removed and converted to a junction with traffic light to avoid the unnecessary bottle neck it creates every evening.

"Just after Olaiya Flyover, heading towards MDS is extremely dangerous because in avoiding one drum-hole on the road, you will fall into another one.

"Aderin bye-pass to link Power line from Testing Ground is in a very terrible state regardless of the type of your car, when you drive there you will feel it.

"The case of Ogo Oluwa is peculiar, if the road will be permanently fixed, water flow has to be controlled.

"The part in front of Adolak was repaired about three months ago and it has now returned to its previous state.

"Same thing in front of Posh 99 and the junction before Zarah Guest house.

"Another point of concern is the first turning after Ofatedo junction adjacent RCCG Mega zion, erosion has carted away a good portion of that road.

"Facing Ibikunle from Dele Yes Sir, is another terrible portion in front of BOVAS filling station.

"Heading towards Ilesa Garage from Oja Oba is nothing, absolutely nothing to write home about, a part before the Civil Defence office is even not tarred at all.

"Heading towards Dada Estate, there is a dangerous ditch just before Dada Estate Police station.

"You can not also turn conveniently in front of MTN office, the holes there are expanding daily.

"There is also a swimming pool in front of BOVAS filling station at Ogo Oluwa and just after that is a turning that is also marred with another drum-hole.

"Repairs on these parts of the road is extremely expedient because road is the first and major direct dividend that the masses enjoy from the government," he demanded.

In same vein, residents of other towns in the state have also asked the state government to urgently rehabilitate roads within their communities.

According to residents, most affected roads are Ikirun-Eko Ende, Adetunji Estate, Odeyinka-Ikire, Ori-Oke pure water, Ede township roads, Ota-Ajaba.

They also called on the Osun Commissioner for Works, Oluremi Omowaiye and the agencies saddled with the responsibility of road maintenance to expedite action.
