Residents Stranded As Flood Hits Benue

Following heavy downpour on Monday, residences have been flooded, leaving residents stranded in Makurdi, Benue State.

According to reports, the rain started around q1am to 2:30pm causing homes to be flooded.

The areas affected by the flood include Apaa behind Living Church, Naka road, Wurukum, Kutcha Utebe, Wadata Rice Mill, Agber Village, Achussa, Idye, part of Judges quarters and George Akume road in the state's capital, Makurdi, reported Daily Trust.

Residents said despite warnings by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the flood was not expected.

While speaking to correspondents, one Samuel Uchi as reported by Daily Trust said the water overflowed the new drainages constructed and flooded homes.

As gathered by AllNews, residents are still evacuating their families from the flooded areas.
