Revealed: Dino Melaye's Website Up For Sale

The domain name of a former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, www.dinomelaye.com, is up for sale.

Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost the Kogi West Senatorial re-run election to Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Kogi State National Assembly Election Tribunal had on August 23, 2019, nullified the 2019 election of Dino Melaye as the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Senate. On October 11, 2019, the Appeal Court ordered a fresh election.

Since his ouster at the November 30 rerun polls, an election marred by violence, vote-rigging and voter apathy, Dino Melaye has maintained a relatively low profile, which could have led to his domain name up for sale.

A visit to his official Twitter handle @dino_melaye confirmed that the website belongs to the former senator as he still refers to himself as “Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

Allnews.ng spoke to an IT expert, Olajide Ajayi, who said that a host could put up a domain name for sale for different reasons.

“Domain names are for rent by the hosts and failure to renew the domain names annually are the primary cause why a domain name is put up for sale. The owner of such a domain name could forget to renew it as at when due. Secondly, the owner of the domain name might no longer be interested in retaining such a website,” he said.
