Reasons why Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior and a former governor of Osun State and other members of the cabinet could not visit Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in London have been given.
This is contrary to insinuations that Aregbesola refused to visit the former Lagos State Governor because of reported disagreement between them.
Reports made available to AllNews Nigeria by Sola Fasure, the Media Adviser to Rauf Aregbesola stated that since the President, Muhammadu Buhari had visited Tinubu while on a medical treatment in London, presidential protocol barred any other member of the cabinet from doing such.
It was also learnt that since President Buhari had visited the recovering Tinubu in London on August 12, 2021, the protocol forbade Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Minister of Works and others to visit the APC leader.
In Fasure’s words, “The minister is unable to visit Tinubu in London for protocol reason.
“If the President has gone, no Minister, not even the Vice President, can go. Aregbesola’s relationship with Tinubu is mutually beneficial and reinforcing.
“Besides, every other person who has personal relationship with Tinubu but serving under President Muhammadu Buhari, will not also visit the former governor of Lagos State until he returns to Nigeria.”
Fasure explained that there was no other reason for the Minister of Interior not to visit Tinubu other than just protocol.
He also added that the APC national leader and the Minister of Interior were always in constant talk and they discussed for more than one hour the last time they talked on phone.
Fasure warned that making a case out of the issue protests such individual as mischevious and ignorance.
The National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had on Friday October 8, 2021 arrived Nigeria from London where he had been on medical vacation.
