'Review Curriculum In Higher Institutions To Reflect 21st Ce

The Kansan Katsina, District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has called for the review of the Curriculum of Colleges of Science and technology-based higher institutions, polytechnics and other higher institutions of learning to tailor their research and curriculum towards meeting up with twenty-first-century advancements in science and technology.

The District Head made the call in a keynote address he gave at the weekend as a guest speaker at the fourteenth National Conference, organized by the Colleges of Agriculture, Environmental Studies, Engineering and Science and Technology, of Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic.

Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara said science and technology are key driving factors of development in any developed economy of the world.

The Traditional Ruler while commending the House of Representatives for passing the bill abolishing the HND/ Degree dichotomy also called for increased funding for polytechnics and other higher institutions of learning to motivate research in science technology as a driving factor of the economy.

He acknowledged the commitment of the Katsina State Government towards restoring the lost glory of education and restoring peace and security across the state.

Others who spoke during the conference include the Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Higher education, Dr Bishir Usman Ruwan Godia, the chairman governing council of Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic Alhaji Ahmad Abubakar Lugga who stressed the need for a review in the curriculum of science and technology-based higher institutions to a more research-based oriented.
