Richarlison Knocks Conte Over Tottenham's Champions League Exit

Tottenham attacker Richarlison has not spared his coach Antonio Conte following their exit from the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Brazilian international launched a scathing attack on Conte for dropping him to the bench, admitting in an explosive interview that the season has been abysmal.

Spurs crashed out of the Champions League having lost 1-0 to AC Milan on aggregate.

They had a poor showing against Milan in a decider match as they mustered only two shots on target.

The boos around the stadium affirmed that their season went from bad to worse as the fans now have to endure another season without a trophy.

Richarlison was left furious at full-time that he was thrown into the fray in the final 20 minutes simply because Spurs needed a goal to force extra time.

Airing his frustration, he said: "That’s what I didn’t understand, too [being a substitute].

"It was going well, in a good sequence, two wins against West Ham and Chelsea.

"Suddenly, [assistant boss Cristian Stellini] put me on the bench, against Wolverhampton he put me on for five minutes.

"I asked why? They didn’t tell me anything.

“And, yesterday, they asked me to take a test at the gym, that if I was good I would go to the game and, at the time of the game, they left me on the bench.

"These are things that it is not possible to understand.

“Let’s see what [Conte] will say tomorrow, but there are no fools here either, I’m a professional, I work every day and I want to play. There are minutes left, time left.

“This season, excuse the word, it’s been shit because I don’t have minutes, I suffered a little with the injury.

"But, when I enter the field, I give my life. I came from two games well, I think that’s it, I think I should have played and I don’t have to cry about it.”

Opening up further on why his side couldn't reach the last eight of the Champions League, he said Spurs failed to qualify because they were too defensive in their approach against the Italian side.

"There is frustration of course – we’re out of the biggest club competition.

"We can’t play like that needing to score – the team had to play more offensively, especially in the second half.

"There’s not a lot to say now – we can’t go chasing someone to take the blame.

"Now there’s only the Premier League to play," the 25-year-old added.

Richarlison has apparently struggled for playing time since his £60 million move from Everton.

He has made 25 appearances this term and only 12 have come as starts.

While his two goals this season have come in the Champions League, he has failed to find the net in the Premier League in 17 appearances.
