A representative for Barbadian singer Rihanna has confirmed that she is pregnant with her second child, according to the Associated Press.

The news follows Rihanna's much-anticipated performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday, where she took the stage for 13 minutes of her greatest hits.

Rihanna’s appearance during the performance sparked speculation on social media about a possible pregnancy, as she sported a red jumpsuit with a noticeable bump, which she occasionally touched.

This is her first public performance since becoming a mother to a son with rapper A$AP Rocky, whom she welcomed last May.

The couple had announced their pregnancy in January 2022, with photos that showed off the singer’s baby bump.

In 2019, Rihanna had declined the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in support of Colin Kaepernick and his protest against racial injustice.

However, this year, the singer, who is now 34, credited her son for her decision to perform, saying that she wanted to set an example for him and for representation.

“When you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you can take on the world, you can do anything,” Rihanna said during a news conference ahead of the Super Bowl.

“It’s important for me to do this year. It’s important for representation, it’s important for my son to see that.”

Fans and well-wishers have taken to social media to express their excitement for Rihanna and her growing family.

The singer has yet to comment further on her pregnancy and the details surrounding it.
