A rally by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Rumuwoji Playground in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was disrupted on Thursday when an explosion rocked the gathering.
According to reports, at least three persons sustained injuries in the blast, with two women among the victims.
The injured were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed by the APC Publicity Secretary in the State, Darlington Nwauju, who described the development as 'unfortunate'.
Also speaking on the development, the Police spokesperson, Iringe-Koko, stated that she would get back to pressmen with information.
With only a few weeks left to the general elections, tensions are high among politicians and the electorate and many in Rivers State wait with bated breaths to hear who Governor Nyesom Wike will announce as his presidential candidate.
