Rivers: Governorship Aspirant Accuses Governor Wike Of Black

A Rivers State gubernatorial aspirant, Farah Dagogo, has accused Governor Nyesom Wike of trying to blackmail him, saying that he (Wike) be held responsible if anything happens to him.

Dagogo, a member of the House of Representatives, was declared wanted by Wike on Wednesday for allegedly hiring cultists to disrupt the screening of aspirants at the state party secretariat in Port Harcourt.

Speaking through his media aide, Ibrahim Lawal, in a statement on Thursday, Dagogo accused the governor of lying against him.

The governorship aspirant stated that he was never at the party secretariat for the screening exercise as he is a gubernatorial candidate.

Elaborating on what happened at the screening venue, Dagogo disclosed that at around 3 pm, some of the aspirants were uncomfortable over the delay as the screening committee had not arrived to do their job.

"They held a press briefing in the front of the Party Secretariat and alleged of ploy not to screen them and another to disqualify them by the absent Screening Committee.

"After the Press briefing that went viral on both conventional and social media, the screening committee came to the venue to start the process late in the evening for an exercise that was supposed to start in the morning hours.

"After a while, the Camp Commandant to the Governor, Efeturi Irikefe, who was at the venue with a retinue of police officers, tried to disrupt the process by shooting indiscriminately to scare supporters of the aspirants outside the venue", he said.

Dagogo called on the commissioner of police to apprehend and investigate the activities of Efeturi Irikefe, Camp Commandant to the Governor at the party’s secretariat on Wednesday.

"If any incident should befall Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo, the Governor of Rivers State, and his agent should be held responsible", he added.

On the governor's recent actions, he said that Wike was attempting to blackmail him before the screening of the gubernatorial aspirants on Thursday, adding that his action violates sections 14 and 33 of the 1999 constitution.

Dagogo said that he was willing to accept an invitation by the police but it must be after the screening exercise has been conducted.
