Roadside Dumping: BASEPA Arrests Offenders, Set For Prosecut

The Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) has arrested three vehicles belonging to cleaning companies for dumping refuse on roadsides.

The violators were arrested by the inspection and enforcement officers of the agency.

The agency had earlier banned the dumping of refuse by the roadside across the state.

The offenders were arrested along the Ningi - Kano and Kari - Maiduguri roads during the routine inspection to enforce the ban.

This was contained in a statement on Sunday by Isyaka Laminu Badamasi, spokesperson of the agency.

According to Badamasi, the agency had only approved the dumping site at Dungulbi, along Gombe Road for waste disposal.

He added that the Director General of the Agency, Dr Ibrahim Kabir, said the Agency will not relent in its efforts to deliver the mandates of keeping the state clean and healthy.

He also called on the people of the state to support the Agency to deliver.

According to Babangida, the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
