Rooney To Take Charge Of MLS All-Stars Against Arsenal

Wayne Rooney will lead the MLS All-Stars team in a friendly against Arsenal this summer.

The former Manchester United attacker is the current head coach of DC United having been a player for them between 2018-19.

Both teams will square off at Audi Field in Washington DC on July 19 which falls at the midway point of the MLS season.

Rooney was delighted with the opportunity to lead the all-star side, saying the match will be a personal "highlight" for him.

"I’ve had a front-row seat to watch the growth and development of Major League Soccer – first as a player and now as a manager,” he said.

“The opportunity to lead the best our league has to offer, against a top Premier League club like Arsenal, will be a highlight for me personally and an unforgettable experience for our passionate fanbase here in DC.”

The friendly match will provide the Premier League champions-elect with a testing tune-up game ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season kicking off in August.
