Royal Wedding: Oluwo Seeks Financial Support From Osun Gover

A letter from the palace of Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo land purportedly requesting financial support from the Osun State Government to marry another wife from the Ado Bayero dynasty of Kano has surfaced.

In the letter which was dated February 8, 2022, with reference number HIM/TELU 1/14, and addressed to the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, Oba Akanbi disclosed that the total requested sum was N20,000,000.

"I have the instructions of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, to notify you of the Oluwo's decision to marry a princess from Kano Emirate, to be precise Ado Bayero dynasty.

"I wish to remind Your Excellency that this kind of royal wedding within two notable traditional institutions in Nigeria, will require huge expenses, which necessitates support of state government financially even logistically.

"Moreover, the estimated amount for the even is above (N20,000,000:00) twenty million Naira.

"His Excellency, Oba Oba Akanbi for necessary consideration and approval on this request.

"Thank you."

However, Alli Ibraheem, the Chief Press Secretary to Oba Akanbi has debunked the contents of the letter.

The Oluwo's spokesperson said the letter was a fake as it did not emanate from the palace of the Oluwo.
