Russia has announced that its forces successfully foiled a major Ukrainian offensive in the Donetsk region, resulting in the deaths of 250 Ukrainian troops and the destruction of tanks and armoured vehicles.
The Russian defence ministry revealed this information on Monday, stating that the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the South Donetsk direction on June 4.
Meanwhile, there has been no update from Ukraine regarding the alleged offensive.
However, Ukraine's General Staff of Armed Forces noted that Russia is intensifying its military efforts to occupy the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
According to the Russian defence ministry, Ukraine initiated the attack using six mechanized and two tank battalions.
However, the ministry asserted that the enemy failed to achieve its objectives and that all of its attacks were repulsed by the defence forces.
