Russia has carried out two waves of air attacks on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of another.
The city's air defense systems successfully intercepted and brought down at least 40 drones that were moving towards Kyiv in the early hours of Sunday, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Tragically, falling debris from the intercepted drones claimed the life of a 41-year-old man and left a 35-year-old woman wounded.
The attacks occurred on the day Kyiv celebrates its founding anniversary, known as Kyiv Day, which marks 1,541 years since the city's official establishment.
Usually, this day is observed with street fairs, live concerts, and special museum exhibitions.
However, due to the recent air attacks, this year's festivities were scaled down.
As the air raid alarms rang out after midnight, many residents gathered on their balconies, expressing their defiance against Russia's President Vladimir Putin and chanting slogans in support of the country's air defense forces.
