In a harrowing turn of events, Kyiv faced a missile attack from Russia in the early hours of Wednesday morning, leaving at least 45 people injured and causing significant damage to a children's hospital, homes, and infrastructure.

The attack unfolded, disrupting the peace of the night as air defense systems worked to intercept missiles aimed at the Ukrainian capital.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the intercepted missiles' debris fell on the eastern side of the Dnipro river, resulting in injuries to at least 45 individuals.

Eighteen people, including two children, were taken to hospitals, while others received on-site treatment.

Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration, said most injuries came from windows blown out by the blast wave.

“There are many injured,” Popko said, suggesting that the number of wounded may rise.

This assault follows a recent incident where a Russian missile attack destroyed homes on Kyiv's outskirts, injuring four people and disrupting the electricity supply to over 100 households.
