Russia, Turkey, Iran, Assad Regime Meet Over Normalisation Of Ties, Syria's Future

Russia, Turkey, Iran, Assad Regime Meet Over Normalisation O

The quadrilateral meeting of foreign ministers from Russia, Iran, Türkiye, and the Assad regime commenced on May 10, 2023, in Moscow.

This is with the aim of discussing a range of issues relating to Syria's future.

Russia and Iran seek to convince Ankara and the Assad regime to restore their ties through the talks.

This comes after the two neighbours’ relations soured after the 2011 unrest in Syria escalated into a civil war.

During the meeting, the ministers will exchange views on several critical issues, including the normalisation of Türkiye-Syria relations, counterterrorism, and the political process to end the war in Syria.

And also humanitarian matters, such as the voluntary, safe, and dignified return of Syrians who fled their country due to the war and settled in Türkiye.

The meeting is an opportunity for the parties to find ways to address the ongoing conflict and pave the way for peace and stability in the region.
