Russian lawmaker claims Ukraine received warning before plane crash killed 65

Russian lawmaker claims Ukraine received warning before plan

A senior Russian lawmaker, Andrei Kartapolov has asserted that Ukraine was officially warned about an approaching plane before the tragic incident occurred.

Kartapolov, speaking to fellow lawmakers from the ruling United Russia party, claimed that Ukraine had been provided with comprehensive information about the aircraft's trajectory.

“The Ukrainian side was officially warned, and 15 minutes before the plane entered the zone, they were given complete information, which they received and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed receipt of,” Andrei Kartapolov claimed.

Despite the purported warnings, Kartapolov suggested that the Ukrainian side did not heed the information provided.

He cited confirmation of receipt from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Kartapolov, a former general with close ties to Russia's Defence Ministry, who currently heads the parliamentary defence committee, emphasized the subsequent tragic events without explicitly specifying them.

The relationship between Russia and Ukraine has been tense, particularly in the aftermath of the annexation of Crimea by Russia and the ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

Accusations and counter-accusations between the two countries have become commonplace, adding layers of complexity to an already volatile situation.
