Saka Not 'Satisfied' With Draw Against Liverpool In EPL Titl

Bukayo Saka has expressed his displeasure over Arsenal's 2-2 draw against Liverpool in Sunday's Anfield thriller.

The Gunners surrendered a two-goal lead to Liverpool to end their winning run of seven games.

Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus put Arsenal in cruise control but a goal from Mohamed Salah mounted pressure on the league leaders before the Gunners' nemesis Roberto Firmino levelled the game in a dramatic fashion.

This resulted in Arsenal's eight-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand and a reverse fixture with Mikel Arteta's team on April 26, to be cut to six points at the summit of the table with eight games left.

In an interview with the club's media, Saka described the outcome of the match as a "shame" as his side fell from a winning position considering their bid to win a first Premier League title in nearly 20 years.

“I’m not going to sit here and tell you I’m satisfied with a point [against Liverpool].

"We wanted to go there and get all three so there’s a bit of frustration inside me that we didn’t do that.

"It’s a stadium I’ve never won at, so I thought that it would be the best opportunity and timing to do it, but we couldn’t do it which is a shame,” he bemoaned.

The 21-year-old England international was also keen to stress that Arsenal's title chances remain under our control despite dropping two points, adding that the Gunners could head into their crunch title clash against Manchester City nine points clear.

“As players, we really want to do this,” added Bukayo, who is the only player in double figures for goals and assists so far this season.

“We know that everything is in our hands and we just have to keep going game by game.

"If we win these last eight games and get some good results, the title can be ours, so we just have to stay focused.

"It’s a long season and we have to be consistent all the way through, so that’s what we’ll try to do.

“I wouldn’t say [the Man City game] is the final, but maybe the semi-final because it’s massive, and so important as both teams are fighting at the top.

"It’s really close so it’ll be a massive game.”

Arsenal will next be in action in the league against West Ham on Sunday and are hoping to return to winning ways at the London Stadium as the Premier League is gradually moving towards its business end.
