Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has called upon members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take a strong stance against Israel following the deadly strike on the al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza.

He has urged OIC countries to impose an oil embargo and other sanctions on Israel while also recommending the expulsion of all Israeli ambassadors.

This statement on Wednesday was made during an emergency OIC meeting held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to address the escalating Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“The foreign minister calls for an immediate and complete embargo on Israel by Islamic countries, including oil sanctions, in addition to expelling Israeli ambassadors if relations with the Zionist regime have been established,” the Iranian ministry said.

Additionally, Amirabdollahian proposed the formation of a team of Islamic lawyers to document potential war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.

The strike on the hospital has ignited pro-Palestinian protests across the Middle East and North Africa, with demonstrations at Israeli embassies in Jordan, Turkey, and near the US embassy in Lebanon.

Similar protests have been witnessed in Iran, Morocco, Tunisia, Yemen, and Iraq, emphasizing the international outrage over the attack.
