In the wake of protest against the new Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Team, a new unit to replace the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, (SARS), Self-proclaimed African Giant says it is time for institutional reform in Nigeria.
Burna Boy who has been lending his voice to the ongoing #EndSars movement in Nigeria said this in a tweet in the early hours of Wednesday, October 14.
Speaking against the monthly payment of the police officers, the singer questioned why they should earn 50 or 60 thousand Naira per month.
He did not end there as the "Ye" crooner also noted that the pay with no other benefits will not help the country's current situation.

"It’s a great morning to demand for institutional reform in Nigeria. No reason why a sergeant on the police force earns 50/60k ($127) a month with no benefits! It doesn’t help our plight," he tweeted.

AllNews earlier reported that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu on Tuesday, set up SWAT to fill the gaps arising from the dissolution of the defunct SARS.
Mohammed had ordered all personnel of SARS to report at the Force Headquarters, Abuja for debriefing, psychological and medical examination.
The officers are expected to undergo this process as a prelude to further training and reorientation before being redeployed into mainstream policing duties.
