Saudi Arabia Condemns ISIS Attack On Pakistan Embassy

Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry on Sunday condemned the attack on the Pakistani embassy in the Afghan capital Kabul, and also the failed assassination attempt against its Charge d’affaires.

The ministry reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for Pakistan, expressing its solidarity with the Pakistani people.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also demanded an investigation into the attack.

A Kabul police spokesman said one suspect has been arrested and two light weapons seized.

ISIS claimed responsibility Saturday for an attack on Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul, which Pakistan decried as an “assassination attempt.”

In a statement cited by terrorism monitor SITE, ISIS’s regional chapter said it had “attacked the apostate Pakistani ambassador and his guards.”

Pakistan is home to more than a million Afghan refugees, and the border they share is frequently the scene of clashes.
