Saudi Pro League Might Be Better Than French League — Neym

Al-Hilal forward Neymar Jr. has said the Saudi Pro League (SPL) could be better than the French Ligue 1.

Neymar joined Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, becoming the latest in a host of elite footballers that recently moved to Saudi Arabia.

In a press-conference ahead of Brazil's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bolivia on Friday (September 8), Neymar said: "I assure you that soccer there (in Saudi Arabia) is the same. The ball is round, there's a goal.

"And with all the names in the Saudi League today, it might be better than the French league."

The Brazilian, who is yet to make his debut for the Ryadh-based club, added that he is keen on overcoming the hurdles of the SPL in his bid to win titles at his new club.

"I want to win titles for Al Hilal, my head won't change much," Neymar added.

"Everyone said the same when I went to France (about competitiveness), and it was the place I was hit the most in my life.

"I am sure that it won't be easy to win the Saudi championship, other teams got stronger, have famous players.

"It will be very interesting and I am sure you will be watching."

Other than Neymar, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte are also playing for various clubs in the league.
