Lionel Scaloni

Lionel Scaloni has emerged victorious at the FIFA Men's Coach awards for 2022, beating out the likes of Carlos Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola to claim the prestigious title at the ceremony in Paris, France.

The 44-year-old former right-back was appointed as Argentina's national team coach in 2018 amid heavy criticism, but he has since proven his worth to the team.

Scaloni led Argentina to their first major trophy in 28 years with a stunning victory in the 2021 Copa America, silencing his critics and cementing his place as a key figure in the national team's resurgence.

But he wasn't content with just one title, as he went on to secure another with a clear victory over European champions Italy in the finalissima in 2022, boasting an impressive unbeaten run along the way.

A clear proof of his impact on the team came when Argentina defeated defending champions France in the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, making a clear continental sweep and solidifying Scaloni's position as a mastermind of the game.

His incredible success has earned him a contract extension by the country's Football Association, with the coach now set to lead the team to the next World Cup in 2026.

In addition to his tactical prowess, Scaloni has also been praised for giving young players such as McAllister, Molina, Enzo Fernandez, and Julian Alvarez a chance to shine in the national team.

All in all, Scaloni's journey to the top has been nothing short of remarkable, and his contributions to the Argentina national team have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the football world.
