Local airlines have lamented over scarcity of aviation fuel, adding that operations might shut down in three days.
This is coming after operators have said that N120,000 would be spent for the purchase of an economy ticket by anyone who wants to continue flying.
The airlines who spoke through the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema told a special House of Representatives Committee investigating the unavailability of aviation fuel that they cannot afford the fuel anymore.
However, representatives of the oil marketers who failed to convince the house committee on why there is price hike attributed it to the high rate of the dollar.
The airlines have lamented that no one can afford to continue buying at N670 per litre.
The chairman of the house committee and Deputy Speaker of the House, Ahmed Idris Wase cautioned marketers against blackmailing the government.
While asked how much and where the marketers purchased the dollar, the marketers failed to answer.
The Group Managing Director of NNPC Limited, Mele Kyari disclosed that at the moment, there are 19 oil companies in the country loaded with 88 million litres of the aviation fuel.
