Security Agents Apprehend Run-Away COVID-19 Patients In Kaduna

Security Agents Apprehend Run-Away COVID-19 Patients In Kadu

Two patients who had fled their homes after they were informed of their test results have been captured by security agencies.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Amina Baloni, confirmed that the patients had been captured and sent to an isolation centre.

Earlier, the state Ministry of Health had urged the two patients to subject themselves to the isolation centre for treatment, subsequently sending security officials out on a search for both parties after they had refused to comply.

The commissioner had said that it was illegal for the people who had tested positive for coronavirus to switch their phones off after they were notified of their results, going incommunicado.

Dr. Amina added that the two escapees had been notified of their results on Friday while they were in isolation.

She said, ‘’Health officials subsequently notified them that a team will be coming to convey them to the isolation centre for treatment. These persons subsequently switched off their phones and have remained incommunicado."

"The reckless action of the absconded positive patients is not only endangering themselves but their families and the larger community," she added.

‘’Similar irresponsible conduct by some Covid-19 positive cases has been reported in another state. It is a pattern of behaviour that must be stopped because it is patently dangerous to public safety."
