The Nigerian Senate has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to rename the airport in Ibadan after ex-Oyo Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who recently lost his life after battling COVID-19 pandemic.
Moving the motion to immortalize late Ajimobi during the Senate's Tuesday plenary session was the Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial district, Buhari Abdulfatai.
Abdulfatai who notified the Senate of the demise of the ex-Governor asked the lawmakers to observe a minute silence to honour late Ajimobi.
He also suggested that the Senate send a high powered delegation to commiserate with Ajimobi's family and the good people of Oyo state.
The Senate, however, urged FG to immortalize Ajimobi, it also resolved to send a high-powered delegation to commiserate with the family and the government and people of Oyo State of the death of the former Governor.
It will be recalled that AllNews earlier reported how the late Governor died of COVID-19 complications.
Prior to his death, Ajimobi was one of the APC leaders chosen to replace Adams Oshiomhole as APC National Chairman.
