Senator Dimka, Daduut Condemn  Killings Of Over 100 Persons

The Senator representing Plateau Central  Senatorial District, Hezekiah Dimka and that of Plateau South Professor Nora Daduut, on Tuesday, condemned the Sunday attack on some communities in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.

More than 100 persons were killed in the attack our correspondent reports.

In a statement in Jos, Senator Dimka said he recently paid a condolence visit to the Executive Chairman of Kanam LGA, Dr. Dayyabu Garga in Dengi, the headquarters of Kanam LGA, where he described the massive killing and wanton destruction of properties as too many, disheartening, sad and reiterated his call on the Federal government to come to the rescue of the state.

Dimka, a retired Commissioner of Police also called on security agencies to intensify their efforts by investigating the masterminds of the killings in a bid to bring them to book as a deterrent to others.

” I wish to most heartily on behalf of the people of Plateau Central condemn these dastardly acts of taking the lives of innocent people and destruction of property and to console the families of those who have lost their loved ones in the course of these senseless attacks.

Dimka added that the Chairman of Kanam local government Hon Garga said that he was touched by the barbaric act perpetrated on his people by the bandits who used the land donated to the state government for ranching at Garga to infiltrate the communities that were attacked last Sunday.

The statement further added that Senator Dimka donated bags of millet, sugar, salt and Maggi as a contribution to alleviating the sufferings of the affected communities.

In a related development, Senator Nora Ladi Daduut of Plateau South Senatorial district in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos condemned the killings, urging the Federal Government to expeditiously apprehend the perpetrators of the act and bring them to book.

Daduut called on the Federal government to put in place machinery that would ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.

"I condole with the Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong, the Chairmen of Kanam local government area, the Senator representing Plateau Central and the people of the local government  Council  over this sad incident."
 
She commended Governor Simon Lalong for his swift response to the dastardly situation as well as his peacebuilding efforts
