Senator Offers Scholarship To 15 Youths To Study Abroad

A Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Wamakko has offered to sponsor 15 indigent youths of the state to obtain degrees in Science and Engineering courses outside Nigeria.

Wamakko, a former Governor of the state according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is currently sponsoring over 500 indigenes studying different courses within and outside the country.

Bashar Abubakar, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Wamakko issued a statement containing a development to journalists in Sokoto on Monday.

Abubakar stated that the 15 successful students have been presented with their admission letters and visas to the Republic of Pakistan.

The qualified students include Abdulkadir Abubakar and Abubakar Sadiq, who are to study Masters of Business Administration, while Auwal Aminu and Sagir Abubakar are to study Pharmacy and BS Social Sciences, respectively.

“Similarly, Sa’idu Aminu is to study BS Media and Mass Communication, Ahmed Maccido and Naziru Abubakar are to study BS Diet and Nutritional Sciences, while Musa Bello and Mande Kasimu will study BA Business Administration.

“Others are: Saifullahi Shehu, BS Visual Communication Design, Salamatu Umar and Gaddafi Abubakar, to both study BS Computer Science, Mukhtar Sadiq and Al’amin Alkali will study BS Electrical Engineering and Yasir Mahe, got BS Social Science,” he said.

Quoting the former Governor, the Publicity manager encouraged the students to be dedicated to their studies in order to come out successful.

"You should all use this rare opportunity given to you to be of good conduct while at Pakistan and ensure you maintain the good name of Sokoto State and Nigeria,” he warned.

Some of the beneficiaries who described the gesture as a huge opportunity appreciated Wamakko,  promising to work hard as expected.

They also prayed to God to reward their sponsor bountifully.
