Send Your Children To School, Teach Them Importance Of Education - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on parents and guardians to ensure that their children go to school.

He further urged them to teach their children the importance of education.

The president made the call on Tuesday in Yobe while addressing voters at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off. 

While stressing the devastation caused by Boko Haram insurgency in the North East, he said education was important in countering the despicable ideology of the Boko Haram terrorists.

‘‘Make sure you send your children to school and make them understand that whatever you have in this world can be taken away from you except the knowledge you have in your head.

"I was an orphan; I did not know my father. 

"I spent nine years in a boarding school and because of education, I was enlisted into the Nigerian Army.

‘‘I want you to strengthen your faith, try your best to uphold the children and family God has entrusted to you. 

"Do not betray that trust," the president told parents and guardians.

While noting the success recorded in the fight against terrorism in the subregion, the president said the APC-led government is more than ever before energized to defeat whoever threatens the unity of Nigeria.

The President further recounted how Boko Haram inflicted damage on the people, their property and the economy, before their decimation by the Nigeria Armed Forces and security agencies.

President Buhari further called on voters in the state and the entire subregion to ensure victory of the APC in the forthcoming elections by voting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria's president and all other candidates of the party. 

The president added that a Tinubu-led administration would guarantee "the sustenance of progress made in the security, economy and education sectors of the country."

Buhari further urged all candidates of the APC to ensure good governance if elected into their respective positions.
