Sensual Obsessive Designer, Emanuel Ungaro is dead

French fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro, popularly known by his fashion name “sensual obsessive,” has died at the age of 86 in Paris.

Emanuel Ungaro has had a long fashion journey since the launch of his ‘sensual obsessive’ in 1960.

In 2005, Ungaro retired and sold the brand to Silicon Valley businessman Asim Abdullah, though he went on to criticise the fashion house when US actress Lindsay Lohan was briefly hired as an artistic director.

Ungaro got his fashion sense from his father, an Italian immigrant who trained under the Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga.

According to his former brand's website, his time training with Balenciaga taught Emanuel the idea of “rigour and perfectionism.”

“Season after season, Emanuel Ungaro dared to be different, combining unexpected yet sensual clashes of bright colours and prints with beautiful draping,” the website says.

The said fashion icon brought life to every piece. In one of his post, he said, “One should not wear a dress, one should live in it,” he once said, according to the AFP news agency.

Meanwhile, the designer grew to a level of popularity before he sold it out. The designer bragged about his skill and furious nature, which gave him the edge of every other designer.

Today, the fashion line has earned a good reputation and is still producing women's fashion, as well as other products, including perfumes and luxury furniture.

Ungaro was born in Aix-en-Province in southern France in 1933. He married Laura Bernabei in 1988 and had a daughter, but in recent years stayed out of the spotlight. He had spent the last two years of his life in a “weakened” state of health, a family member revealed.
