Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Saturday announced his resignation as the leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
This is following widespread anti-government protests triggered by two mass shootings that claimed the lives of 18 people.
While Vucic will continue to serve as head of state, he emphasized the need for a new approach to unite the country.
And also to address the concerns of the citizens.
In a display of support for President Vucic, tens of thousands of people, including those from neighboring Kosovo, Montenegro, and Bosnia, gathered in Belgrade to rally behind him following the anti-government demonstrations sparked by the recent shootings.
Another protest was scheduled for later, highlighting the ongoing public discontent.
