With the Champions League quarterfinals against Napoli set to begin on Wednesday, manager Stefano Pioli has plenty of work to do to ensure his side is prepared for the crucial match.
Milan, who currently sits third in Serie A with 52 points, 22 points behind the leaders Napoli, looked a far cry from the side that had thrashed their upcoming Champions League opponents 4-0 just five days ago.
Despite their dominance in the first half, they were unable to break through Empoli's determined defence. Milan's Olivier Giroud thought he had scored the winner in the dying moments, but a VAR check revealed the ball had hit his hand, leading to boos from the home crowd.
Empoli, who are 14th with 32 points, remain 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
