Serie A: Atalanta Move Past Lazio Into Top 4

Rasmus Hojlund

Atalanta's impressive 2-0 win over Lazio in Saturday's Serie A match was the result of outstanding performances from defender Davide Zappacosta and forward Rasmus Hojlund.

The victory lifted Atalanta into the top four of the standings, overtaking Lazio, and now the club sits comfortably in third place with 41 points, tied with AS Roma and AC Milan who are in fourth and fifth place respectively.

The match, which was held at the Stadio Olimpico, got off to a fantastic start for Atalanta in the 23rd minute when Zappacosta unleashed a beautiful shot into the top right corner of the net. This early lead set the tone for the rest of the match, and Atalanta's confidence only grew from there.

20 minutes into the second half, Hojlund doubled the advantage for Atalanta when he expertly controlled a cross from Ademola Lookman and pushed the ball into the net from close range.

The loss for Lazio resulted in a drop to sixth place with 39 points, and it will no doubt be a disappointment for the club and its fans.

However, for Atalanta, this victory is just another step in the right direction as they continue to make their mark in Serie A and push towards the top of the standings.

The team's dominant performance on Saturday was a true testament to their skill and determination, and they will no doubt be looking to continue this form in their upcoming matches. With a solid record and a talented squad, Atalanta has what it takes to be a major contender in the league this season.
