Serie A: Ciro Immobile's Hat-trick Pushes Him Ahead In Europ

Lazio defeats Verona 5-1 as Ciro Immobile goes 4 goals clear ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo in the Golden Boot race. The Italian striker used the opportunity to score a hattrick and ran 4 goals clear of Ronaldo in pursuit of another golden boot award. He has also caught up with Lewandowski in the European Golden boot race since the Polish striker has finished the Bundesliga.

Immobile has now scored 34 goals in Serie A the highest scored by an Italian player in a single season in League history. With 34 goals he has leveled up with Lewandowski and still has two games to overtake him and claim the two Golden boots.

Lazio ran riot in the Serie A against 9th place Verona to put them comfortably in the top 4 and earned a Champions League qualification ahead of the 2019/2020 season.

Amrabat opened the scoring in the game given Verona an edge in the game, not until Immobile converted a penalty to make it 1-1 which open the flood gates of goal, Milinkovic-Savic scored, Correa also saw a chance and convert it.

Immobile scored again to make it a brace in the 83rd minutes of the match. The striker saw another opportunity in the late minutes of the match through a penalty and he scored again to make it a hattrick.

Some critics once said Ronaldo got most of his goals through a penalty bu Immobile scored 3 goals in a match and 2 of which are from a penalty, it further strengthens the fact that a goal is indeed a goal.
