Serie A: Fiorentina Stun Roma To Miss Out On Top 4

Fiorentina Stunned Roma

Fiorentina staged a dramatic late comeback to snatch a thrilling victory against Roma, leaving the visitors stunned and disappointed not making the top 4 spot on the Serie A standings.

The match started at a sluggish pace, with both teams seemingly reserving their energy for the upcoming cup finals in Europe.

Roma drew first blood when Stephan El Shaarawy found the back of the net just 11 minutes into the game, capitalizing on a close-range opportunity.

The early goal seemed to set Roma on a path to victory, as they continued to create chances and put pressure on Fiorentina's defence throughout the first half. However, Fiorentina's goalkeeper, Michele Cerofolini, showcased his skills with a series of impressive saves to keep the hosts in the game.

As the match entered its closing stages, Fiorentina began to show signs of life. In the 85th minute, Luka Jovic struck a crucial equalizer, sparking hope among the home crowd.

The stadium erupted just three minutes later when French forward Jonathan Ikone sealed the comeback victory for Fiorentina with a composed finish from close range. The late goals sent shockwaves through Roma, who had controlled much of the match until that point.

With this defeat, Roma find themselves in sixth place in the standings with 60 points from 37 games. They now sit four points behind fourth-placed AC Milan, who have a crucial match against Juventus on Sunday. Atalanta, currently in fifth place with 61 points, will also be in action later on Saturday against Inter Milan.
