AC Milan delivered a stunning display as Olivier Giroud's hat-trick propelled them to a commanding 5-1 triumph over Sampdoria on Saturday, reigniting their hopes of securing a top-four finish in Serie A.

Having suffered three consecutive defeats, including two losses to Inter in the Champions League semifinals, Milan bounced back with an emphatic win against the league's bottom-placed team.

The match kicked off with Rafael Leao giving Milan an early lead after just nine minutes. However, 40-year-old Fabio Quagliarella stunned the home side by netting his first Serie A goal of the season, equalizing for Sampdoria.

Giroud, the experienced French striker, swiftly swung the momentum back in Milan's favour, heading home a goal in the 23rd minute. He extended Milan's lead by calmly converting a penalty in the 29th minute after Leao was fouled.

Brahim Diaz added a fourth goal for Milan in the 63rd minute, further cementing their dominance. Giroud showcased his prowess once again, winning a physical battle with Bram Nuytinck and scoring while both players were grounded, five minutes later.

This resounding victory moved Milan into fifth place in the Serie A standings, trailing Lazio by a single point. Their next challenge will be an away match against second-placed Juventus.
