Serie A: Osimhen Deserves MVP Award, Says Onazi

Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has said that Victor Osimhen deserves to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in Serie A for his impressive performance for Napoli.

Osimhen has plundered 21 goals in 25 games for Napoli to inspire his side to gun for their first Italian league title in 33 years since the legendary Diego Maradona last played for the club. 

Speaking to the Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Onazi said: "He [Osimhen] deserves MVP for what he's done in Serie A and also for what he's done this season in the Champions League. I have no doubts.

“Victor Osimhen continues to grow and will do even better.

"In Nigeria, we have had strikers who have written football history but Osimhen is still a starter and, I think for him only the sky will be the limit."

Onazi once plied his trade in the Serie A, representing Lazio and Casertana in the past.

On the international scene, he was part of the victorious Super Eagles team in the 2013 African Cup of Nations and also represented Nigeria at the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
