In a thrilling match on Sunday, Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot scored twice to secure a 4-2 win over bottom club Sampdoria.
The victory lifted the injury-hit Juventus side to seventh place in the league and within reach of the final European spot.
With 38 points, Juventus now trails sixth-placed Atalanta by only four points. However, Juventus was without several key players, including Paul Pogba, who is suffering from a muscle injury and will be sidelined until after the international break. Federico Chiesa, Alex Sandro, and Angel Di Maria were also absent due to injuries they sustained during Thursday's 1-0 Europa League victory over German side SC Freiburg.
Gleison Bremer opened the scoring for Juventus with a header in the 11th minute, beating the Sampdoria defence. Rabiot then doubled the lead with another header in the 26th minute, meeting Fabio Miretti's cross from the right.
However, Sampdoria responded quickly with two goals in 72 seconds just after the half-hour mark. Tommaso Augello tapped in a deflected shot, and Filip Djuricic fired into the corner from a pass from the byline, sending shockwaves through the Allianz Stadium.
Despite Sampdoria's attempts to find another goal, Juventus held on for the win. The team received loud boos from the stands at halftime, but the victory provided a much-needed boost for the injury-hit squad.
