Serie A: Rabiot's Strike Earns Juve Win Against Fiorentina, Move 9th On Table

Serie A: Rabiot's Strike Earns Juve Win Against Fiorentina,

Adrien Rabiot

On Sunday, Juventus secured a 1-0 victory against Fiorentina at home in Serie A. The win was largely due to the efforts of midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who scored the lone goal in the 34th minute with a close-range header.

This marked Juventus's 14th clean sheet this season, surpassing the entire 2021-2022 campaign. As a result of the win, Juventus moved up three spots to ninth place with 29 points from 22 games, just one point behind 8th-placed Udinese and Torino in 7th.

The game started off well for Juventus, as they had a good opportunity to take the lead in the 12th minute. Angel Di Maria's cross reached Filip Kostic inside the box, but he narrowly missed the far post with his shot from a tight angle.

Kostic later had another chance to give Juventus the lead when he connected with a lofted pass, but his shot was saved by Fiorentina's goalkeeper, Pietro Terracciano.

Fiorentina barely threatened Juventus' defence in the first half and continued to offer little threat after the break.

Dusan Vlahovic thought he had made it 2-0 for Juventus in the 59th minute with a lob over the goalkeeper, but the goal was ruled out by VAR due to offside in the buildup.

Substitute Moise Kean had two good opportunities for Juventus after coming on for Vlahovic, but his first effort was saved by Terracciano, and the other was off-target.

Fiorentina's hopes were briefly filled by substitute Gaetano Castrovilli in the closing stages when his powerful low shot sped past keeper Wojciech Szczesny.

However, the effort was ruled out by VAR for offside. Fiorentina now sit in 14th place with 24 points and will host 12th-placed Empoli on February 19.

Meanwhile, Juventus, who host Nantes in the Europa League on Thursday, will travel to Spezia just three days after in Serie A.
