Seven People Shot In US As They Protest Breonna Taylor's Kil

The ongoing protest sparked by the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor in the United States has resulted in the shooting of seven people in Louisville, Kentucky.

Properties were also reportedly damaged during the "peaceful protest" in the state which has turned violent due to the death of another black American.

Taylor had been killed in March after Police opened fire during a search at her apartment. The Police had gained entry by force with a 'no-knock search warrant' for a narcotics investigation. According to the Mayor of Louisville, Greg Fischer, protest of her death ended up with seven persons being shot, Fischer said in a video posted on Twitter. The identities of the individuals that sustained gunshot wound at the protest were not disclosed.

In a comment accompanying the video on Twitter, Fischer said, "I urge protesters, as Breonna Taylor’s family said tonight, to say her name. But let’s not see anyone else get hurt. Let’s work together for peace, justice & for Breonna & all of Louisville.". Taylor, according to a CNN report, was shot at least eight times while police were returning gunfire from her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker.

The Police officers, Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove were accused of not knocking, but rather, forced their way into the house. Taylor's boyfriend was arrested and charged for the attempted murder of a police officer and first-degree assault, however, prosecutors have filed a suit to get the charges dropped.

Meanwhile, protest continues with the recent death of George Floyd, who died in police custody after video showed a police officer with his knee on Floyd's neck while Floyd was saying he can't breathe. His death also led to a nationwide outcry across the United States.
