Sevilla Fire Argentinian Coach Sampaoli, Appoint Mebdilibar As Replacement

Sevilla has fired coach Jorge Sampaoli after their recent loss to Getafe in La Liga.

The club appointed Jose Luis Mendilibar as his replacement until the end of the season. Sampaoli was sacked after Sevilla's fourth defeat in their last seven league games. 

The team is now just two points above the relegation zone. Mendilibar, who has been coaching for nearly 30 years, has signed a contract until the end of the season and will take charge of his first training session immediately.

Despite their poor La Liga form, Sevilla has been successful in the Europa League, and they are set to face Manchester United in the quarter-finals next month. 

Their first La Liga game after the international break is against Cadiz, and they will then travel to Old Trafford for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on April 13. 

Sevilla is a record six-times Europa League winners.
