Nigerian singer and Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality star Victoria ‘Vee’ Adeyele has slammed those who are criticising the Netflix series ‘Shanty Town’ over its nude scenes.
Nancy Isime stars in ‘Shanty Town’ and a video of the scene which shows her unclad was widely shared on social media.
This sparked criticisms as some Nigerians argued that nudity is not a part of Nigerian culture; hence it shouldn’t be depicted in Nollywood films.
Amid the backlash, Isime disclosed that a body double was employed in the naked scene rather than her.
Reacting to this, Vee pointed out that the movie is about crime, prostitution, corruption and other societal vices.
The singer directed those who want to watch cultural content to go for Africa Magic Epic.
“Nudity is not part of our culture. Shanty Town is about crime, prostitution, corruption, etc.
"If it’s culture you’re looking for, go and watch AM Epic and stop disturbing us,” Vee tweeted.
