Shatta Wale Remanded In Police Custody For A Week

Ghanaian dancehall singer Shatta Wale has been remanded in police custody for one week by an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday.

He was charged with the creation and circulation of false information to cause fear and panic which he pleaded not guilty to.

Two of his team members - Kojo Owusu Koranteng a.k.a. Nana Dope den Eric Venator a.k.a. Gangee - were also arrested for allegedly spreading rumours on social media that the singer was shot.

According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the purported gunshot was fake.

Whilst being whisked into a police van, Shatta Wale spoke to the media and other fans chanting his name. In the video cited online, Shatta Wale said, "Every day Shatta Wale do this, Shatta Wale do that, I want to fucking go to jail".

Meanwhile, the 'man of God' Stephen Akwesi a.k.a. Jesus Ahuofe who prophesied that Shatta Wale would die on October 18 has also been arrested.

According to the Police, anyone criminally involved in the matter will not be spared.

Shatta Wale was arrested after rumours of his being shot circulated on the internet. Reacting to the rumours, the singer revealed that he was on the run as his life was in danger following a prophecy he was going to be a victim of a gunshot.

Media reports reveal that after his response, the artiste was declared wanted by the police, and not wanting to hide anymore, he reported himself at the station.
