The former representative of Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Shehu Sani has reacted to the recent move by the Islamic police in Kano to ban the use of the phrase 'Black Friday'.
Sani, who acknowledged that Fridays are sacred days of Muslim prayers, further pointed out that the colour added to Friday doesn't matter.

He further challenged the Islamic Police to focus on solving the issue of insecurity and Kidnapping currently rocking the region.
"Friday is our sacred day of prayer as Muslims. Whatever colour is added to it doesn’t matter. Hisbah’s threats against the phrase black Friday’ is nonsensical. They should focus on the killings and kidnappings going on in their domains. Their services are needed in the battlefield," he said
It will be recalled that AllNews had earlier reported that Hisbah police on Friday asked a Kano based radio station, Cool Fm to stop mentioning black Friday on air.
In a letter seen by AllNews shared online, the Kano State Hisbah Board said the tag "Black" shouldn't be used on Friday, as the day is considered holy among Muslims in the state. The Hisbah Board said Kano State is a Muslim-populated region, so Cool Fm branch in Kano State should forfeit the word "Black" in the sales festival moniker.
