Sheikh Gumi Reveals Why Bandits Started Killing Victims

Controversial Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has revealed why bandits started killing their victims.

According to Gumi, the bandits want revenge for the killing of their family members by the Nigerian military through airstrikes.

The scholar made the comments while speaking at a retreat on inclusive security organised by the Global Peace Foundation and Vision Africa in Abuja.

Gumi mentioned that it was important for the federal government to meet the bandits urgently before they grew beyond control.

"We all know that bandits initially don’t kill people. They only kidnap people to get money, but something has metamorphosed and turned them into a Frankenstein monster that kills people just for the pleasure of it", he said.

Gumi is known for being an advocate of the bandits and just recently, he promised to stop meeting with them. 

The popular Islamic teacher made the decision after their proscription by an Abuja Federal High Court.
