Sheikh Gumi's Nomadic Rights Group Won't Change Much — Miy

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association says the newly launched Fulani rights group, Nomadic Rights Concern, will make no impact on the lives nor change the plight of the ordinary Fulani herder in the country.

The Association, Kano State Chapter through it’s secretary, Zubairu Ibrahim on Sunday told allnews that there are way to many Fulani groups that make no impact.

He said if the ordinary Fulani herder is seriously considered, the groups should come under a single umbrella and advocate for better lives, ranching and better health system for the herders.

Ibrahim noted that it is imperative to care for the ordinary Fulani man, who does nothing but rare his cattle, lamenting that the way they are being killed in some parts of the country is a direct violation of their rights as Nigerian citizens.

Commenting on the ranching project schedule to kick off in Benue, Adamawa, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Plateau, Taraba and Zamfara, Zubairu Ibrahim stated that it is long overdue, adding that farming from land to land is an old model that undermines the bounties in cattle rearing.

He said if the government would stop playing politics with the matter, and fully implement ranching, it would boost meat and milk production for local and international consumption as well as better the lives of the Fulani herders.
