Shi'ites demand end to killings in Palestine

As Muslims approach the final week of Ramadan, the global leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Ruhullah Al-Musawi Al-Khomeini, has called upon Muslims and non-Muslims alike to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine against the state of Israel.

Imam Al-Khomeini declared the last Friday of each Ramadan as International Quds Day, and since 1980, the Quds procession has been held worldwide in numerous countries including Britain, France, Sweden, America, Germany, Canada, Australia, as well as across Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and other regions.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), under the leadership of Sayyid Dr. Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, has been observing this event for decades in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by Professor Dauda Nalado on behalf of the Islamic movement, it was announced that the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, 1445 H, is International Quds Day. The statement highlighted the ongoing attacks by what they termed as the occupier regime on the Palestinians.

The statement condemned the brutal actions of the Zionist state, which has resulted in the deaths of almost 33,000 Palestinians and the injuring of nearly 80,000, with over half being women and children.

The destruction of buildings and the devastation of Gaza City have been cited as further evidence of the atrocities committed.

The statement emphasized that since its establishment in 1948, the Palestinians have endured subjugation and oppression, with the current wave of brutality marking a significant escalation. It called for condemnation of these acts of genocide and urged nations to take a stand against the perpetrators.

Furthermore, the statement criticized the support provided to Israel by certain countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as the complicity of Arab regimes. It called upon the masses in the Arab world to rise against puppet regimes and strive for self-determination.

The statement expressed gratitude to South Africa and the axis of resistance, comprising Iran, Lebanon (Hizbullah), Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, for their unwavering support to the Palestinian cause.

Finally, the statement called on the Nigerian government to sever diplomatic ties with Israel, demand a permanent ceasefire, and work towards a comprehensive package for the freedom of Palestine.
