The Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Edward Onoja has seemingly sided Bishop David Oyedepo, the Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, who at the ongoing Shiloh 2020 stated that he has zero regard for COVID-19.
This newspaper understands that Bishop Oyedepo compared COVID-19 to a graven image that is only real for those who believe it exists.
It would be recalled that the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, in November claimed the state has “demystified” the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bello, represented by Onoja, at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Kogi for Batch B, Stream 1A corps members had said:
“In Kogi State, we have demystified the COVID-19 pandemic and urge you all to feel free and have a breath of fresh air.”
AllNews had in the past reported on several controversies trailing Kogi state government’s response to the pandemic including allegations that local officials are not conducting tests.
Out of over 800,000 thousand samples collected for testing in Nigeria since the pandemic broke out in February, only 386 samples are from the state, a national situational report published by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) earlier in December showed.
The public health agency has on several occasions mentioned that the only way to measure its progress in the fight against the pandemic is through increased testing, which is solely a responsibility of the state government.

However, unfazed by the risk of a second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, Onoja took to his known Twitter handle on Friday to hail those who do not wear a face mask.
The 46-year-old politician participated in Shiloh 2020 recently as watched the programme at the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
